Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter

I am the sort of person who always has the nails painted. It become the case when I started College and I wanted to take better care of my nails. Since then I rarely have a day without nail varnish. This means pampering time for my nails at least twice a week, so seeing as I am a huge fan already of Lush - so therefore they have something for me to pamper my nails.

Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter

In all honesty I grabbed this on a whim, panic and a spa induced haze after receiving two treatments at the Lush Spa Kings Road. When I got home and was like, what the hell have I picked up? I didn't know if I was going to use this, and was probably going to give it to my sister in the end. However, when I did crack it open, my nails well and truly thank me for this gift for my cuticles.

This stuff I absolutely amazing in order to keep a bay of the cuticle area of your nails. The butter is really soft, smells amazing and does wonders for making your nails look professionally amazing - even though you do them at home yourself. Now I am a fan of most things that smell of lemony goodness, so this is a winner for me. I usually put this on before I paint my nails and after I am filed them. This butter makes the cuticles soft and easier to remove, but they also keep the cuticles at bay.

This product contains: Fresh Organic Lemon Infusion, Shea Butter, Beeswax, Lanolin, Soya Oil, Organic Avocado Oil, Organic Linseed Oil, Mango Butter, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Organic Cold Pressed Wheatgerm Oil, Lemon Oil, Lavender Oil, Tagetes Oil, Chamomile Blue Oil and Gardenia Extract.

This is now I product I really truly love, and will always be apart of my nail routine. I would defiantly recommend it if you are suffering with the cuticle areas of your nails or your nail beds are really dry - this adds moisture to your nails and helps create the surface for the nail varnish to apply better.

For this pot of Cuticle Butter: £6.75.

Error 404 Bath Bomb

I did not understand why this was such a popular choice in bath bomb, as it has been voted for so many times when the Lush Kitchen allow us to choose the weekly menu now and then. Seeing as I have had on sitting in my collection for a while I decided to give it ago and I can now understand why people love it so much.

Error 404 Bath Bomb

When I laid my hands on this particular bath bomb was around Easter times, and assumed that it was a retro or exclusive product linked to the current Easter collection that was in stores at the time. Thinking of the link to easter as it takes the shape of a small golden easter egg - I think however I am wrong.

However on close inspection and the little knowledge I have about computer games - the the idea of "Error 404" is linked to gaming technology or something like that. If anyone knows the real answer I will be glad to hear of it. However, the design of it is amazing - especially with the imprinted 404 and digital aspects of the design.

When it enters the water, you are in for a treat - I mean I have seen things about the design on the inside but when you experience it yourself it is so amazing. When the gold melts away you are left with a blue wonder than leaves the egg shaped madness as it swirls around your bath.

As for the smell, I couldn't quite get what it is was meant to smell like, as one first smelling the bath bomb all I could get was baby powder but when entering the water to me it just smells like fresh and comforting which I feel you sometimes when in a bath, particularly if you take baths in the evening.

The bath bomb itself contains: Rosewood Oil, Geranium Oil, Orange Flower Absolute, Gardenia Extract, Antique Gold Lustre, Bronze Splendour Lustre and Glacier Blue Lustre.

However, seeing as it was featured in the Lush Kitchen this week, I did not pick up any as they didn't blow me away so much that I wanted to repurchase anymore, but I know there are some definite fans of this Error 404 Bath Bomb out there - so I hope they got to pick up some to add to their collection.

Happy Birthday Bubble Bar

Earlier this year the Lush Kitchen celebrated being a year old by bring out the Happy Birthday Bubble Bar in celebration. Of course, one of the things I really love about Lush is there novelty items and puns they use to describe certain products. So, when it was released into the Kitchen of course I have to get a couple. Funny thing, before sitting to write this blog post, I thought I had more in my collection but actually the other day I used my last one - oh dear will have to wait for it to come back around in the Kitchen next time. However, this is the Happy Birthday Bubble Bar

Happy Birthday Bubble Bar

The first thing I love about this product is that fact is the dressed up like a birthday present - ribbon and all which hits on the novelty factor I enjoy about Lush products. Of course ribbon and Happy Birthday sign are not for the bath - so these were removed before crumbling it under the trap.

The light pink colour of the product does not show up in the water, but gives it a hint which I can only describe as "your water but better" but it created soft and comforting sweet smelling bubbles that surrounded the bath. I originally saw that the product was meant to take on the smell of a birthday cake scent - which I have to say you do not get an overwhelming scent once crumbled into the bath - but when the product is a whole you definitely get a hint of cake like scent.

The product contained: Bergamot Oil, Vanilla Absolute, African Marigold Oil, Beeswax Absolute, Cocoa Butter, Almond Oil and Gardenia Extract.

I found this to be a very moisturising bubble bar which left my skin feeling amazing once I got out of the bath and really enjoyed the scent it left on my skin - I mean who wouldn't want to smell like birthday cake - without the added calories of birthday cake. If Lush were to bring out this product again for another celebration in the Kitchen, I will obviously be repurchasing a few more of these bubble bars. I was actually quite disappointed to discover that I had used my last one. If you can get your hands on one of these bubble bars - then I would recommend that you do - as these were only limited to the Kitchen during the month of April this year.

This bubble bar was: £3.95 each.

Narcotick Shower Gel

Having mentioned previously that since the Lush Kitchen have been doing regular products, such as retro and limited - I have only purchased a couple of items recently as I have figured out what I actually enjoy certain items that are only available from the Kitchen. However, there has been a couple of new purchases, that I have not tried before, one of them being Narcotick Shower Gel

Narcotick Shower Gel

When it comes bath products, I am usually the one heading towards anything that smells citrusy or fruity rather than musky or heavily scented smells. Narcotick Shower Gel fell into the middle and I was in two minds in which I would actually like this as a shower gel - turns out I actually do and it has been a must during this humid weather we have been having in the UK.

It is such as a fresh smelling as well as fresh feeling shower gel and at the moment I prefer to use this just in the shower alone not as part as a bath. I love the combination of the fresh lemon scent alongside the tea tree oil as I think they really work well together and actually very complimentary.

Also, the fact that this shower gel contains so many essential oil, which are really good for your skin. In this weather, skin takes a battering because of exposure to the sun - which can damage the skin - so it is really good you are able to give it back the good stuff by taking a shower.

I like to use this for an evening shower rather than a morning shower as I think it does help the body to wind down for the nighttime, especially as it contains Lavender - which I love for a night time shower, really helps to get you ready for bed.

The shower gel contains: Lavender Flower Water, Fresh Organic Lemon Juice, Sea Salt, Rosemary Oil, Tea Tree Oil and Sage Oil.

Definitely a shower gel that has a calming effect on the body, which for me is something I look for in a shower gel or bath product - as I do think that having a relaxing bath or shower is definitely a form of therapy. I have been working recently, on field events I have enjoyed using this in the shower after a day surrounded by grass and pollen!

I am so pleased that I managed to pick up two bottles of this shower gel, so that I can continue to enjoy it - especially as the weather cannot make up its mind what it is doing and dealing with humidity and hot weather I am not good at.

Lemon Sherbet Showder

Slowly still getting through my purchases from Lush Oxford Street of all the new exclusive products and one thing that has interested me is the Showders which are new products to use like shower gels/soaps.

Lush Oxford Street offer three of these in different scents, these are Lemon Sherbet, Candy Floss and Washaccino. My favourite one at the moment is defiantly the Lemon Sherbet Showder which I used in my bath today.

Lemon Sherbet Showder

This product smells incredible. Lemon scented products is one of my favourites so when I opened this for the first time I was so pleased that it smells exactly like Lemon Sherbet sweets.

When I first visited the Lush Oxford Street store, these were one of the first things to be snapped up and took forever to be restocked. So, when I saw it sitting on the shelf on my second or third trip - I quickly jumped for it and it landed in my basket.

I really like the packaging - which is so different to the regular Lush product packaging. Also, the fact they look like retro washing powders - that you use to do your laundry. As I now own all three - including the body scrub they look so cool lined up in my collection.

Anyways, to use this product you simply pour a bit out in your hand or onto your body puff/lily, add water and watch it lava up. This product foams up really well, and feels amazing as it glides over your skin and especially this one really wakes you up.

The product includes: Cornflour, Sicilian Lemon Oil, Gardenia Extract, Organic Lemon Myrtle Oul, and Litsea Cubeba Oil.

I love this showder and it is a nice addition to a shower or a bath time experience. It is also a really good product to help prep your legs for times when you have to shave them - which is a task and a half for some of us! It is also a nice alternative to always using soap or shower gel - which can be repetitive.

For this Showder: £9.95.

Happy Pill Bath Bomb

Recently, the Lush Kitchen has been filled with Lush Oxford Street products, which means retro and limited products have taken a back seat. Last week, was the first official week of the Lush Kitchen resuming normal business. It would have been stupid not to purchase a couple of items from the week.

Having only discovered the Lush Kitchen a few months ago, in the past I use to go mad and buy something at least everyday, nowadays, I pick and choose what I am going to buy, if anything out of the week - so I don't spend loads of money. I now also know what scents I enjoy and tend to pick them up from the kitchen.

However, last week I did break my rule and did buy something I have never tried before, but I knew I would enjoy it because I like the two scents which make up this bath bomb. Enter Happy Pill Bath Bomb

Happy Pill Bath Bomb

When someone describes a bath bomb as a shape of a Pill, I am going to want it, put it in my basket and then it gets delivered to my house. This bath bomb, has to be one of the most interesting and exciting shaped bath bomb I have added to my collection.

So, having unleashed it into my bath for this evening's bath time delight, I have to say I am so pleased I have three more to enjoy. From my research previous to buying these bath bombs is that each half is a different scents. So, the yellow half is the same scent as Happy Hippy and the orange half is The Olive Branch. The combination is amazing, and a really refreshing and especially with the up and down hot weather we have been experiencing here in the UK - it is a good bath bomb for coping with the heat.

This bath bomb includes: Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Organic Hemp Oil, Grapefruit Oil, Bergamot Oil, Olibanum Oil, Lemon Oil, Orange Flower Absolute, Mandarin Oil and Gardenia Extract.

I should also mention, this bath bomb is huge. So, if you wanted to you could break the two halves in half and use them separately. This was definitely a good purchase from the Lush Kitchen from last week and I am so pleased I have a few more to enjoy over the next few months.

For this bath bomb: £3.50.

Lush and Hand Luggage!

If you are planning to go abroad on a short trip and you are planning to take just hand luggage, as many airlines charge you extra for checking it in, then you understand the stress and worry of deciding what to bring in regards to toiletries/liquids.

With rules and regulations regarding the amount of liquids you are allowed to bring on board changing in recent years it becomes a worry about how to take products you love abroad when you only have your hand luggage.

So, these are the current rules regarding restrictions liquids in hand luggage:
  • Each liquid must be carried in its own container of no more than 100ml (3.5 Ounces).
  • They must be carried in a single, transparent, re-sealable bag of up to 20cm x 20cm (8in x 8in).
  • Total capacity of up to a litre (approximately one quart.)
  • Must be screened separately.
With these rules in motion, I have done some research into what Lush products fit into the restrictions and how you can take all the Lush products you enjoy in your hand luggage. These included taking shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, moisturisers, toothpaste, perfume and even all the make-up items you could need while on your short trip.

1. Shampoo/Conditioners

Everyone wants to take their favourite Shampoos and Conditioners when they go aboard - especially if you have found something that works for managing the type of hair you have. Lush offer shampoos and conditioners in 100g bottle which equal to 100ml - which is bang on the liquid restriction. On the other hand, if you enjoy Lush's Solid Shampoos and Conditioners - which can be stored in there own containers - the small round tins/square tins - you can take these on board, these come in 55g bars which equal to 55ml - which is under the restriction. The shampoo can also double up as a shower gel.

2. Shower Gels

With Lush doing their shower gels in different sizes - it comes in handy that they do them in 100g bottles which is equal to 100ml. This allows you to take your favourite shower gels in the transparent bags. However, if you only have a big bottle of your favourite shower gel - such as those in 500g bottles, make sure to keep a 100g bottle of the same name - do not throw it out - as you can reuse it for decanting some from your 500g bottle into your 100g bottle. Keeping the 100g bottles come in handy for this method, but make sure its the same shower gel - as if you are asked about ingredients then it matches up

3. Moisturisers

If you are a fan of a moisturiser, Lush offer them in both liquid form and in solid form. The solid moisturisers can be stored in there on containers and typical come in 20g bar which equals to 20ml - again under the limit.

However, if you are more of the fan of the cream moisturisers - then I would recommended purchasing a gift box - as they included smaller tubs of your favourite products. These come in 45g tubs - which works out at 45ml which is under the 100ml limit.

4. Deodorants

Everyone needs deodorants, Lush offer there deodorants in two forms - solid and powder which are both allowed in your hand luggage. Solid Deodorants - like the Solid Shampoo/Conditioners can be put into your hang luggage inside the transparent bag. 90g = 90ml, 10ml below the restriction

If you prefer the powdered deodorants, then Lush offer theses in bottles 75/80g. As these are in a bottle, I am not sure if they count towards the liquid restriction - but just to be on the safe side I would put these in the transparent bag - 75g = 75ml and 80g = 80ml.

5. Perfumes

You want to smell nice, especially when you get off the plane. Lush's perfumes - Gorilla Perfumes, which come within the liquid restrictions. The liquid perfumes range from 10ml, 30ml and 50ml which will fit perfectly into the transparent bag - and can be taken safely on the plane.

6. Toothpaste

Everyone needs fresh breath and with Lush offering Toothy Tabs instead of regular toothpaste - it is a great alternative to take when liquids are restricted. Toothy Tabs come in a 12g box - making it easy to brush your teeth - on the plane and while enjoying your short break. If you haven't used a toothy tab before, you basically crush the tablet between your teeth, wet your toothbrush and brush like normal. These are another item than do not have to be restricted to the transparent bag - allowing for more space for other liquid products.

7. Make Up

Girls, when going away even for a short time, we like to bring a bit of make-up. Make-up is the trickiest to pack in your hand luggage - as a full face of make-up can take up the entire liquid restriction. However, with Lush's Make-Up Line this process is easy and you still have room for other liquid items.

Foundation - 20g = 20ml
Mascara - 5g = 5ml
Face Powder - 8g = 8ml                   = Entire Make Up = 86ml (way under the restriction)
Liquid Eyeliner - 5g - 5ml
Cream Eyeshadow - 5g = 5ml
Lipstick - 8g = 8ml, 10g = 10ml, 25 = 25ml (including all three measurements)

Make-Up you don't have to worry about as they are all within the limit - but also you have room for more liquid items.

8. Facial Cleansers

Between the flying, airport, different temperatures as well as elements our skin can take a battering - which means you are going to want to bring a cleanser with you. Lush offer cleanser in tubs which measure 45g which is equal to 45ml - within the limitations. These means your make-up can be taken off and you can still do your skincare routine.

9. Shaving

For men and for women shaving can be important - especially if you are aboard on a business trip or you want your legs ready for that one day on the beach. Lush offer shaving soap which comes in either 70g = 70ml or 100g = 100ml - both within the restriction. Therefore you are prepared for everything. The only thing that is restricted is the razor - you'll have to buy that in duty free or when you arrive at your destination.

So, these are my suggestions for what you could potentially take in your hang luggage, especially with the liquid restrictions. However, I would double check with your airline whether they have different rules and regulations - as I have only looked at the standard airlines - smaller airlines have different rules.

I hope this helps with those short breaks you are planning to take and still able to take all your favourite Lush products with you. Enjoy your holidays :)

Love, Becky x

PS. Update: I have been informed by someone who works at airport security that not all the solid products are recognised by security as solid items - therefore they would ask for them to be placed within the plastic bags. This is where I would definitely check with your airline before packing them outside your liquid restriction bag.

I have also re-written about the solid products - so if you are taking them in the liquid restriction transparent bag. I do not want to be giving information which turns out to be wrong.

Disclaimer: I do not work for Lush, nor I'm I paid by Lush to write this blog. I write about Lush as it is a hobby and a pleasure.

Disclaimer 2: Information on the Solid Products has been resourced from Lush Customer Care Team, but with there suggestion of checking with your airline just to clarify just in case you still have questions.

Blogmas Day Twenty Four: Thank you and Merry Christmas

Blogmas Day Twenty Four: Thank you and Merry Christmas Yes some of the blog posts were late, including this one, but I am so pleased to...
