Successful eBay Purchases: Costume Jewellery

Seeing as I recently wrote a post about How to: eBay I thought it would be a good idea to write about my successful purchases from eBay. Now I am not writing about items I have purchased from other eBay sellers, these are purchases from actual businesses/shops that run on eBay.

When I began selling, I of course look to see what I could possibly purchase on eBay. Now I am a huge fan of Harry Potter & Doctor Who, so out of interest I wanted to see if there was any costume jewellery that I could purchase on eBay. I have been really successful, with what I have found.

Successful eBay Purchases: Costume Jewellery

1. Harry Potter "Always" Necklace - 4/5

This was the first necklace I purchased from eBay. I needed a necklace to go with my outfit for going to see 'Harry Potter & the Cursed Child" in August 2016. It was £3.29 with free postage. It arrived really quickly - actually the morning of the day I needed it. It is a beautiful necklace, well made and over a year later has not faded and I have worn it a good amount of times. It was purchased from a seller called perfectgoods365

I have since purchased another necklace from this seller.

2. Harry Potter's Scar & Glasses Necklace - 3/5

I have a ring which matches this necklace, my sister brought it for me. When I saw it on eBay for 99p with free postage I could not say no and not purchase it. Again, the quality is amazing - it has lasted really well and I have worn it loads of time. Also the pointy parts of the scars do not dig into my neck area which is really good - it was one thing I was worried about when I brought it item, especially with seeing how cheap it was. I purchased it from a seller called moveview

3. Harry Potter Felix Felicius Liquid Luck Potion Necklace - 4/5

Everyone wants a small bottle of liquid luck right? When I came across this necklace on eBay, again for a steal at 99p I could not leave it there. What I like about this necklace, it comes in two colour options - gold or silver. I opted for the silver potion bottle, which I love. Again, it has lasted amazingly - it is still silver with hardly any ware and tear. I love wearing it, and feeling lucky when I have it on. I purchased it from a seller called y-y-jewellery

4. Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Necklace - 4/5

Now my sister brought my the actual Deathly Hallows necklace from the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour back when we visited it during Hogwarts During The Snow. However, I love storing it in it's display case on my heart shape shelving in my bedroom. I was worried about ruining it and the couple of times I worn it, I was worried about breaking it. So when I saw it on eBay for 99p - again available in silver and gold, I opted for the silver one I brought one. I love wearing it and feel safe knowing if it gets broken or lost I only paid 99p for it. I purchased it from a seller called hereplus

5. Fantastic Beast & Where to Find Them - Muggle Worthy Necklace - 3/5

I saw a necklace similar to this which is the official one from the film release. However, it was ridiculously priced. So I took to eBay to find a cheaper alternative. I was successful and found this version, for £1.99 with free postage I really enjoy wearing it, my only issue is it is a bit heavy - so I do not wear it for long periods of time and also sometimes the clasp comes undone - which has happened to me a couple of time. However it is still a good quality necklace. I purchased it from a seller called c_enjoybuying.

6. Harry Potter Time Turner Necklace - 2/5

It took me a while to decided if I was going to buy this necklace, seeing as by this point I had collected a lot of Harry Potter themed necklaces. However, who doesn't want to own their own time turner - I'd love to be able to turn back time. It was an amazing price of £1.13 with free postage. It's an amazing necklace, I love wearing it but my only problem with it is the quality - the gold has slightly come off after wearing it for a bit, but it is still wearable. I purchased it from a seller called wwhop

7. Harry Potter Golden Snitch Necklace - 4/5

I'd like to say it was a moment of madness but I am truly a huge Harry Potter fan - therefore when there was a chance to buy a Golden Snitch necklace I was going to buy it. Again priced at 99p with free postage. I love wearing it especially the idea of adding a little big of Harry Potter Magic to every outfit. I purchased it from a seller called wb001

8. Hogwarts School Crest Necklace - 2/5

Again for the grand total of 99p with free postage and again being a mad Harry Potter fan, I purchased the Hogwarts School Crest necklace from eBay. However, this one is not one of my favourites and if someone or one of my friends turned around and wanted it, I would happily give it away. I feel it's a bit tacky and looks childish on me. Therefore it stays in my jewellery box a lot more. However it is made really well and has not faded. I purchased it from a seller called valuework.

9. Doctor Who Dalek Necklace - 4/5

My other love is Doctor Who, so therefore why shouldn't I own load of Dr who themed necklaces. I picked up this Dalek themed one for £1.80 with free postage. It is really well made, lovely to wear and none of the bits dig in or are sharp, which really pleases me. I love wearing it. I purchased it from a seller called owoer

10. Dr Who Tardis Necklaces - 4/5

These are the same necklaces which were both purchased for 99p each with free postage. I love wearing them both, letting out my inner Doctor Who geek! They are well made, really good quality especially for such a cheap price. I purchased them from a seller called chaoling017

11. Nightmare Before Christmas Pocket Watch Necklace - 3/5

My favourite Disney film is the Nightmare Before Christmas - especially the characters Jack Skellington & Sally. Therefore when you see on eBay a necklace/pocket watch for £3.09 with free postage I am gonna buy it. This necklace is really well made, great quality and even came with a battery and a spare battery for the pocket watch. I haven't had the chance to wear this anywhere yet, but cannot wait to wear it over the halloween/christmas period - cause I do not care what people say - it is a christmas film! I purchased it from a seller called minicatstore.

12. Nightmare Before Christmas Jack Skellington Face Necklace 3/5

Again fulfilling my love of the Nightmare Before Christmas film and for £1.29 with free postage I was definitely gonna purchase a necklace which I just Jack Skellington's face. Again it is incredibly well made, slightly heavy but I haven't had the chance to wear it, but will get loads of wear out of it over the halloween/christmas season. I purchased it from a seller called directsales-hk.

13. Harry Potter Marauders Map Necklace - 2/5

This necklace I cannot find the seller, or the price but like the other ones mentioned I do not think it was that expensive. However, I do not wear this necklace as often, due to fact it is really heavy to wear. However it is really well made, has really good detail of the map. If I can find the seller and the price I will update and list them here.

14. Doctor Who Whovian Necklace - 4/5

What a necklace to make a statement that I love Doctor Who. I love the design of this necklace, it's really comfortable to wear and it's designed amazingly. It was the grand total of £1.60 with free postage, which is amazing for such a good quality and well made necklace. I purchased this from a seller called owoer.

15. Harry Potter Always & Doe Necklace - 4/5

I love this necklace and wore it the second it arrived. I got it for £1.99 with free postage. It is really well designed, and I love the tag with always written on it and then the doe on top. It is also a nice length. I purchased this from a seller called bigtradingcompany.

16. Luna Lovegood's Spectrespecs Glasses Necklace - 4/5

Luna Lovegood is one of my favourite character's in Harry Potter, so when I discovered her Spectrespecs Glasses as a necklace on eBay for £1.07 with free postage I had to snap it up. It is lovely to wear, it is a nice length and heavy in quality. It is really well made, and really does look like a miniature version of the glasses. I purchased it from a seller called handinhand98.

17. Beauty & The Beast Enchanted Rose Necklace - 4/5

With the hype surrounding the live action Beauty & The Beast film, I was really pleased to discover this enchanted rose necklace on eBay for the grand total of £1.98 with free postage. I love the detail of this necklace and the length - that I am going to wear it as part of my graduation outfit. It is made incredibly well and also comes in other coloured roses. I purchased it from a seller called yaweijidiana.

I am always on the look out for really interesting costume jewellery, as I see it as part of my personality and style. Therefore I am always look for new ones to purchase and since I have discovered what you can get from eBay for not a lot of money and most of them free postage, it's sometimes hard to restrain myself to buying them all. I have since purchased a few more necklaces - which I am waiting for them to reply and I might do a follow up to this blog post when they arrive. I highly recommend looking on eBay for cool and interesting jewellery cause you never know what you might find.

How To: eBay

During my gap year from University, I was looking into ways of creating a bit of income before returning to my degree. Throughout the years, my family have used eBay to sell unwanted items, which would otherwise gather dust in a cupboard or take up space in the garage. It was this idea that I decided to really look into how to sell stuff on eBay, create a bit of profit for myself and have enough money to do my own bits and pieces before returning to my degree. I have now been selling stuff on eBay for just over a year and I thought it would only be fair to share my experience and what I have learnt during my time as an eBay seller.

How To: eBay

Before you decided to sell on eBay, you need the stuff to sell. I initially sold a lot of stuff I had in storage - these included toys from my childhood, as well as items my sister had given me to sell, before I decided to clear out my wardrobe and put it all up for sale on eBay. I have since, been having regular clear outs and listing them on eBay to continue to earn that little bit extra. You can sell nearly everything on eBay, but there are some rules and eBay are strict at sticking to them. For example, if you are selling make-up or beauty items, they cannot be used item because of the health and safety rules.

Once you have collected your items, you have to list them on your eBay. Firstly, you need to title the item. In the title it's a good idea to include the make/store of the item, the size (if it's clothing or shoes) and a short description of the item. For example "Matalan Papaya Curve Size 26 Pink Striped Shirt". This will help to select a category for the item to go under. Makes it easier for people when they are searching eBay.

It also includes taking a picture of the item. Now you do not need a fancy camera - the camera on your phone is perfect, but it's how you take the picture. I would recommend taking them on a neutral background, where the potential buyer can clearly see the item - for example if you are selling a shirt, it's a good idea to place the item on a hanger - then hook it onto something where there is little to nothing in the background. If the item has been used, it's good to include photographs of any damage or marks the item may have - for example if you are selling a pair of shoes that you have worn once or twice - take a picture of the sole so the potential buyer can see how much ware and tear there is to the shoe. If you have a good number of pictures for the potential buyer to see, they are less unlikely to ask a million questions about the item.

Once you've taken your pictures, now it's time to add your details about the item. Firstly there is a section to state whether the item is new or used. Here, if the item is used - you will be given a section to comment - I would put how many times the item has been worn or used. Next you get to sections to add a description. I would include the same details as in the title of the item, but also what condition the item is in and how many times it has been worn. You then get a section which allows to add item specifics - these might be automatically filled in, but it's a good idea to make sure the brand/make is filled in and if there is a section to add size - especially for clothing.

Once you've done that it's time to deal with pricing. If you are auctioning the item, it is good to start the price low - you never know the item could be popular and it could generate an interest and a bidding war! I usually start my items at 99p if they have been worn a bit more than others and some that are fairly new or worn a couple of times, I will start it at either £1.00 or £1.50. If you know an item is worth a bit of money and do not want it to go through an auction, you can set it at a Buy It Now price. This process allows you to sell items quicker. Also remember with both, you can set how long the item is listed for, depending how quickly you want the item to sell. Lastly, make sure you set the correct postage and packaging price. The potential buyer pays this, so do you're homework when it comes to which parcel service you plan on using and charge the right prices.

So, all you items have sold and it's now time to send them out to all your buyers. Firstly, make sure you get enough parcel stuff - this includes envelopes, boxes, sticky tape, labels and stamps (if required). Wait until the buyer has paid you before sending anything, once the money has landed in PayPal (which is the best thing to use), then parcel the item up - making sure to clearly write the address - use Sharpies - cause the address is bold enough for your parcel service to understand and read. Make sure to put your address on the back as the return address in case the parcel gets lost - they can send it back to you. Lastly, make sure your parcels are sealed tightly - therefore no-one can open your parcel and nick the item inside and therefore not creating more problems on the other end for you. If your parcel service has a tracking number, I would suggest adding it to the order - before marking it as dispatched - therefore your buyer will be able to track their item.

All your items are sent, you can sit back and relax or like I do raid the cupboards for more items to sell. However, do not forget about them completely. Hopefully, when the buyer receives the item they will post feedback on your eBay. You want to aim for positive feedback, 100% of the time and hopefully if you do everything correctly you will. It's also good to give feedback to the buyer, just a short message to say thank you and you hope they enjoy the item.

I would also recommend downloading the eBay app for your phone. Therefore you can keep track of your listings on the go and reply to any questions, especially if you are away from your computer. Also remember to keep a check on your eBay fees, which they alert you about monthly.

Here's a recap:

  1. Take decent photographs, a plenty of them, especially if you are selling something used!
  2. Give as much detail about the item in the description - less questions from the buyer!
  3. Make sure you are charging the correct Postage and Packaging
  4. Use PayPal, it's really keeps your money safe!
  5. Plenty of packaging supplies
  6. Use Sharpies - when writing addresses
  7. Include tracking numbers when you mark the item as dispatched
  8. Leave feedback to the buyer!
  9. Download the eBay app - good for on the move
  10. Enjoy it - it's like having your own shop!
I really do hope this helps. As I always say I am not an expert. These are just tips and tricks I have pick up along the way in the last year and a bit. I enjoy listing stuff and seeing items I no longer love, being loved by someone else. I have also become a buyer, and love picking up a bargain on eBay myself - which I am wondering - would you like to see a blog post on my eBay finds? Please let me know in the comments!

Happy ebaying!!!

Until next time,

Really Good & Affordable Face Masks

You want to keep your youthful looks for as long as you possibly can, before the onset of ageing, wrinkles and grey hair. Therefore, having a really good skincare routine is key. Now I am in my early 20s I have realised the importance of having good products to use on your face especially when it comes to keeping it wrinkle free for as long as possible. However, as I am just out of university, I cannot be affording - just yet - the high end skin products which claim to keep you youthful. This means I am always on the hunt for more affordable options to keep my skin looking young and healthy.

One thing I love is a good face mask. I usually apply face masks when I'm having a relaxing bath - usually accompanied by a can of Diet Coke and my YouTube subscription box. As I have sensitive skin, I always worry about certain face mask actually irritating my skin rather than helping it and after sampling a lot face masks - I have discovered some amazing ones that make my skin feel amazing and don't break the bank.

Superdrug's' (a UK drugstore) own brand face masks are the best face masks I have discovered to use on my skin type. I have combination skin - where it is oily in parts and dry in others - which is caused my eczema which can flare up on my face. This alongside my skin being very sensitive. However, I have not experienced any problems or issues when using these face masks - that I now make sure to have a big selection to use whenever I have a bath. There are loads to choose from - but the ones pictured above are my favourites and ones I pick up all the time.

Apricot Exfoliating Self-Warming Mask - 99p
This mask is particularly good if you want a real deep clean of your skin. The combination of it being an exfoliating mask - which is good for removing dead skin and dry patches - with it also self-heating - really works at making sure everything comes out of your pores. Plus with it being apricot scented - the mask leaves your face feeling really fresh. 4/5

Dead Sea Purifying Clay Mask - 99p
Clay mask are meant to be excellent for your skin - so I really do recommend this purifying clay mask from Superdrug's. This is also a really uplifting mask - as it has lemon zest and Eucalyptus - which when you remove the mask it leaves your skin feeling really fresh and makes it feel bright again. This is a really good one to use, as we come into the winter months to keep dull skin bright. 4/5

Skin Rescue Tropical Fruit Peel Off Mask - 99p
Peel off masks are really good for unclogging your pores. Which is fantastic especially coming in after being outside in a environment which is becoming more polluted. It really deep cleanses your skin - phenomenal if you have been wearing a lot of make up - this mask could be part of your cleansing routine after a long day. I'm usually not one for peel off masks - but I really enjoy using this one. 3/5

Superfruits Exfoliating Mask - 99p
This mask is my absolute favourite. Firstly, the scent is delicious and actually makes my mouth water when I apply it to my skin. As I suffer with dry patches - due to the eczema I get on my face - particularly around my nose and on my cheeks. This mask - used alongside a cleanser, really helps to maintain and keep the eczema under control. 5/5

Cucumber Cooling Clay Mask - 99p
I use this particular mask if my skin is really irritated or has been sore, but not cut. This is usually used if the eczema flares up really badly and I want something to cool my skin down. It really does calm skin down, makes your skin feel fresh but also helps to control impurities and keep your skin feeling really smooth and hydrated. 4/5

There are loads more that Superdrug offer in their own range of face mask, which suit every skin type. As you can see from the prices listed, they are all under a £1. Superdrug also usually always have them on offer - usually 3 for 2 - which is amazing and when this happens I make sure to stock up. I am hoping to try out all the masks they have to offer and might do a similar blog post to this if I get the chance.

Until next time,

Zoella Beauty: Jelly & Gelato Shower Sauce

I am a massive fan of YouTube. I have watching it religiously since 2013, building up and subscription box and watching it daily - just like they are television programmes. However, since popular YouTubers have been bring out merchandise, products, ranges, books etc. it has taken me a while to get onto the bandwagon. Now, I am not saying I now own everything every YouTuber has ever brought out but I have sampled some of it. Recently, Zoe Sugg (Known online as Zoella) has brought out a new scent for her Zoella Beauty range, Jelly & Gelato. As I was in Superdrug one day, I happened to walk past it and decided to pick up the Shower Sauce from the new range to give it a try.

Firstly, as I am a Graphic Designer I love the packaging. The typography feature on the front of the bottle is really flowing and I think represents this product really well. To be honest, the whole range is really well designed and works - giving this idea of something from the 1920s, or summertime of the 1960s - especially with the pastel shades. Secondly, the scent. When it is initially poured out on my body puff, the scent is quite strong and something I was not use to. I do wish the scent stayed the same strength throughout the use of the product and I found that the smell disappeared as soon as I left the shower. Even though I am disappointed with the strength of the smell - my skin is left super soft after the shower - having to put little to no moisturiser on afterwards. The texture is quite thick when it comes out of the bottle - therefore you do not need a lot as it does lather up really well. The texture is similar to watered down Jelly - which might be what they were aiming for when coming up with the Jelly & Gelato range.

Overall, the entire collection is really fun and colourful. I think it really expresses summertime and I think it was prove to be a really popular range. My only really disappointment as the product is the price. When I originally purchased the shower gel, it was £8.00 for a 250ml bottle. I think the price could be reduced and I would purchase the product again if it were to be on sale.

Currently at Superdrug's and Superdrug's online - they are on offer for 3 for 2.

Until next time,

Becky xx

PS I have not been paid for this post, all views and opinions are my own.

Lush: Rocket Science Bath Bomb

Although my days of having a huge Lush Collection are sadly over and my bathroom storage is not overflowing with products, I still love using the products and when a new one comes out I am still wanting to give it a try! My lovely sister kindly brought my over a couple of new products from Lush Oxford Street. One of them was the new Rocket Science Bath Bomb.

 Rocket Science Bath Bomb

Firstly, anything to do with science or space I am all over it like a rash. When this was presented to me, I fell in love with the design. For a Lush product it is a really unique design - seeing as most Lush bath bombs are usually spherical and mainly focus on the colour. It is smaller than the other bath bombs but it definitely packs a punch when it is launched into the water. As for the scent, it is a typical Lush scent - which seems to be a favourite of the company's. It falls into the scent family of Sicilian Lemon Oil and Bergamot Oil, which gives it a really fresh, pick up me scent which is perfect for those baths where you are in the need for something to make you feel better or get you started in the morning.

When it is launched into the bath tub, it is a fast fizzer as soon as it hits the water. As it begins the fizz, the colours mix together to create a beautiful turquoise/aqua colour which is a beautiful colour to fill your entire bath tub and then enter. This colour always reminds me of slightly futuristic/space like, which is perfect for this Rocket Science themed bath bomb.

As I am a fan of the refreshing scents that Lush offers, this bath bomb really does appeal to me and one that I will be purchasing again. Although it is more design over substance, it is only £2.95 which is definitely one of Lush's cheaper bath bombs.

Blogmas Day Twenty Four: Thank you and Merry Christmas

Blogmas Day Twenty Four: Thank you and Merry Christmas Yes some of the blog posts were late, including this one, but I am so pleased to...
